Prone Hip Extension Test (Right Side)

The Prone Hip Extension Test measures the ability of the neuromuscular system to control the range of motion at the hips.

Equipment Required: Flat non-slip surface

Procedure:

  1. Participant lies on their stomach with their legs straight and arms by their sides.
  2. Participant lifts the right leg towards the ceiling whilst the left leg remains on the floor. Both legs are to be kept straight.
  3. Participant passes the test if the entirety of the foot on the right leg surpasses the height of the foot of the left leg. Participant fails the test if the entirety of the right foot does not surpass the height of the left foot, their lower back arches, their pelvis lifts from the floor, or there is rotation through the back and hips.
  4. Participant inputs whether they passed or failed the test for the right side into SharedGoals by clicking on the green “Add score” button.
